Personal Philosophy of Web Design

1] Fast loading!   Banner graphics and Script should be computer optimized for crisp quality versus minimum file size to speed loading. Slow banners are irritating. The viewer needs something to see and read immediately. Additional graphics can load further down on the page while the viewer absorbs the top.

2] Tabs [navigation buttons] should be simplified for faster loading. The header should clearly show your location within the website and other pages available.

3] No lower slide bars!! The viewer should not have to move the slidebar to read the entire screen.

4] Links to other related sites are helpful and cause viewers to return again and again. However, when these pages are called up, we use a "target" tag so the viewer can always see and return to your page.

5] Annimated graphics and scrolling text can be helpful if used sparingly. Examples are shown on this page. Blinking text should be used even less.

6] To speed loading, all pictures and graphics will have a width and height specified in the code. Without this, the loading is greatly impaired as the layout must be calculated and adjusted each time by your browser software.

7] Meta statements will be included out of sight in the code. These help search engines define your site and provide the description you see in search results.

8] The domain name [www.yourname.com] should be easy to remember and without confusing abbreviations or choices [like "&" or "and"] if possible. Also, ".com" or ".org" are generally easier to remember than ".net"!

9] Colors should be chosen from a recognized source for compatibility, legibility and attractiveness.    Sample Colors   We can quickly show you how dozens of font colors coordinate with any background color.

10] Bells and whistles like Accuweather, Mapquest, counters, order forms etc. can be added if desired.

11] A banner is usually designed as artwork [.jpg or .gif files] because desired fonts may be unavailable or over-ridden by the client's computer settings. As a result, your carefully designed page could be rendered obtusely. We develop most banners, but we've had multiple options by a professional artist developed for less than $100. You may also incorporate the logo into letterheads, business cards and advertising.

Properly designed Web sites provide one of the most economical advertising and communication means possible. For $2.50 per week, you can have a web billboard. For $8 on up per week, you can have a real selling machine. We can help you learn to use it most effectively.

Scrolling Banners are always noticed!
